More Useless Information about Chris

*NEW BOOK LAUNCH*

I have a new collection of poems available to buy called "Life Gets in the Way" on Amazon in hardback or on Kindle from the link below:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DNTJ3Z14

Some reviews from Amazon below:

5.0 out of 5 stars Poems to touch your heart and give you a chuckle . A delightful collection.

The humour and nostalgia of growing up in Lancashire in the early sixties triggered some fond memories for me. I love the way Chris pours himself onto the pages with heart on sleeve empathy and compassion, then takes you into realms of ridiculousness and belly laughing moments, covering life at home, at work, at play, with poingnant observations counter balanced with a good laff! Truly a collection to savour and enjoy. I would recommend this poetry book to everyone. My favourite poem, 'Our Kid' .

5.0 out of 5 stars Pam Ayres has a rival

I loved this collection by Chris Husband. Some truly inventive and humorous poems along genuinely touching and relatable personal poems. There is love, reflection and positivity peppered throughout the book. From kebab shops to office life to holidays Chris covers a multitude of subjects in such an entertaining and engaging way.

I am so glad Chris didn’t let life get too much in the way and he found his way to sharing his poetry with the world.

If you like poems with humour and heart this is the perfect collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really lovely collection!

Really lovely collection of poems with something for every emotion! I loved the foreword, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty, touching book

More great poetry from the Burnley Bard. A great selection of sometimes moving, sometimes nostalgic, sometimes just witty, sometimes all three poems. Every page makes you think. And proceeds going to an excellent cause too!

The Face That Served a Thousand Chips

I've fallen head over heels in love

With the girl from my local takeaway

And now I am putting on so much weight

As I visit her there nearly every day

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips

The way the steam pools on her brow

And makes her hair so wavy

Tied up in a bun on top of her head

Blonde highlights with a hint of gravy

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips

I love how she can shake the salt

I'm intoxicated by her scent

A heady mix of L'air du Temp

And Sarsons non-brewed condiment

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips

I'm pretty sure I don't imagine

That twinkle in her eye

I can tell the feelings are reciprocated

By the way she handles my tatie pie

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips

I cannot help but fondly admire

As she precisely portions out the peas

The way she ladles the curry sauce

Always has me weak at the knees

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips

She truly is a wondrous sight

As she scoops my chips into a tray

But I can only forlornly dream

Her arms will scoop me in that way

Oh how I long to kiss the lips

Of the face that served a thousand chips
